Tournament Dates:
The tournament starts at 12.01 AM Friday July 30, 2010 and will run for 4 weeks and 5 weekends. The last day to fish will be Sunday August 29, 2010. Weigh-in ends at 11AM Monday August 30, 2010.

Entry fees:

Purchased in advance: $100. (By July 25, 2010)
Purchased last minuet: $105. (July 26~July 30, 2010)
Purchased Late:          $150. (July 31~August 6, 2010)
Note: All entrant fees are paid to Fern River Resort. This includes credit card transactions.
Those who enter late: If your entry is received or postmarked on or after July 31, 2010, than your entry fee is $150. Also there is a 5-day waiting period from when we receive your entry fee and until you can participate in the tournament. This means that if you pay on July 31, 2010, you cannot fish the event until August 5, 2010 with your first weigh in being available on August 6, 2010

Crew members:

Crew members who have their own entry can weigh in on the same day as the captain.
2 or more paid entrants fishing on one boat: Each entrant can weigh a fish on that day.

Important changes to note:

  • The Tunabite merchant account and the bank account were costing Tunabite $480 a year so they have been closed. Now all entry fees are to be paid to
Fern River Resort. This is what you will see on your credit card statement as well. This does not imply that Fern River Resort is running the tournament. That is Tunabite. Fern River Resort is just processing the checks and credit cards to save Tunabite the bank fees.
  • Morro Bay is no longer included as a weigh station and the tournament boundaries have changed.

Thanks Dan we caught the 3 between the 2 buoys. There was only one other boat way to our north. Lines went in at 6, got a quick triple then nothing for five hours. Guess it was my lucky day!!

No new weights came in and we are past the cut off.
If I do not receive a dispute by PM before the 8th, you all welcome to make arraignments to pick up your prizes.

The exotic was not won so this prize will go on the prize list next year.
Note: I was asked to raffle it off to all the entrants.
Due to California gambling laws this is not possible.
Man it's going to suck, looking at that rod for a whole year.
Might just have to go and buy my own.

Good work Brad--tough wind year...

Any thoughts to making September "exotic month" -- and letting those in the contest keep trying for the exotic??

I know we will be fishing anyway! :D

California has gambling laws regarding raffles?  A number of organizations have raffles, including one for my kids school and the NRA dinner....   I sure hope they aren't breaking the law!!!

Guess I'll have to enter the tourney next year to win it!!!

Good job in the tourney guys, wish I would have had time to enter this year!!

Eric.
There are many laws in Ca. related to raffles.
http://ag.ca.gov/charities/raffles.php
If Tunabite was a church or charity it would be possible.
If Tunabite was a not for profit, it would also be possible.
Either one requires extensive paper work and licencing. I for one do not have the time or feel like hiring yet another attorney to get this done.

We do have a tax ID.
With our status: In order for us to have a raffle, we would have to allow everyone to enter for free. That means that there would be hundreds if not thousands of entry's. This would end up with expensive sponsor prizes going to someone who was not even in the tournament, worse yet, not even a fisherman who supports our sponsors.
This is why you will see a no purchase necessary entry option on so many drawings.
Personally I do not want our prizes going to someone who does not even support fishing.

I would like to issue all prizes every year. The exotic is already a wild card surprise position. This is the first year ever that a prize was not issued.

You should enter next year and see if you can win it.

There have been no disputes.
I see no reason why we cannot issue prizes right away.
Anyone see it different, speak now.
Otherwise, all winners are welcome to contact me and make arraignments to pick up their prizes.
If you want them shipped, let me know. I will pack them and send you a total for actual shipping costs.

If was a tough year.
Congrats:
Brad First place.
Dave Second place
and all the rest who managed to get a fish on the scale.

Hey Dan, I'm working up in Santa Cruz  next couple of weeks. I'll give you a call someday at the lodge and make arrangements.

Want to thank you and all the other directors who put on the tournament, I know there was a lot of hours put in to make it happen. Great tourney just wish there was more fishing days.
