Image Size.
- When up loading digital images
you must first reduce the size of the image.
- Most digital cameras today
shoot images at 3,000 to 30,000 kb.
- To get you picture on tunabite.com
without an attachment you must reduce the size to less than
1502400 bytes. The maximum width for an image is 800 pixels.
- A much better size is around
600 pixels wide with a total size of not more than 600 kb of
memory used.
- The above logo in jpg format
is 538 pixels wide by 308 pixels tall. The total memory usage
is 487 kb.
A full color photo in jpg format this size would use around 600
kb.
- All images must first be
saved in bmp, gif, jpg, jpeg, png, txt or zip format. Since bmp
is to large, png is un-common,
text is to confusing and zip requires an additional program to
open, use jpg or gif for all your images.
Gif is only 256 colors so it only works well with drawings. Use
jpg or jpeg!
Reducing Image Size.
Almost all digital
cameras come with a photo editing program. It is recommended that
you install it and learn how to use it.
If you are using windows XP you have a photo editing program built
in. This program contains all the basic tools needed
for editing a photo to place on the web. To reduce size with Windows
XP:
- First create your image and
save it to a location where you can find it. If you know where
the camera saves it, that will do.
- Next, click-start, click-all
programs, click-accessories, click-imaging, click-file, click
open. In the top box where it says
look in, you will most likely see my documents. On the right
there is a small down arrow. Use this arrow to select the
folder where your image is. Than in the main box below, find
you image and double click it.
- Now that your image is open,
you can click-file, click-properties. this will show you the
current size of your image.
- To change the size of the
image, look to the right in the second row from the top. At the
end you will see a box with
a small down arrow. Click on the arrow and choose 50% for half
as large, 25% for 1/4 as large.
- After choosing the size,
click save as. It is usually best to save as a different name
so you can get the old image back
if needed. To save as a different name just add a letter or a
number before the .jpg. Example original image is
fish.jpg, new image is fish1.jpg.
- Now open the new image as
above and check the properties. Note size does not change until
you save.
- Try this and try the other
options until you get a basic understanding of the photo edited.
remember, as long
as you save in a different name, you can always go back and start
again with the original image.
Posting Your Image.
- The easiest way is to just
click the browse button below your text posting box. Locate the
image in the same manner as
above, double click on the image file and it will post in the
attachment box. click send and your done.
- To post more than one image
in a post, you must first host the images as explained in the
video how to page. Once
hosted, you can click the white box with the 3 colored balls.
This will open a web browser window where you can
past the image location. This will also work with images found
on the web.
Posting A Web image.
- Right click on the image
you want to steal (note, it is your responsibility to check copyright,
your libel, tunabite is not responsible for what you post). Choose
properties, copy the image code/address.
- At tunabite.com, click the
white box with the 3 colored balls as above and paste the code.
